FAQs before installing or upgrading to a frameless shower door

Frameless shower doors are a modern trend in home improvement niche and this trend is rapidly getting fame in circles of home owners and building constructors. Frameless door is just a simple shower door which covers your shower section in your bathroom however the different thing about it is, it comes without any metal frame which makes it more elegant and appealing.  Frameless shower door is also a comparatively cheap alternative for improvement which can add a great value to your bathroom look.
Now a day people are installing new frameless glass doors and also replacing already installed framed shower doors with frameless doors however whenever they think about doing it, they might need answers of some questions . In this article I am going to discuss few of the common questions which a customer may want to ask before installing a new shower door or upgrading to frameless door
Question 1: Is it really a good idea to replace my existing shower door with frameless shower door?
If you have a framed shower door already installed in your bathroom then the first thing you may ask is why there is need of replacing the old framed door with frameless. This question makes sense because if you already have a shower door installed then why you need to install a new one.
Actually frameless shower door is far more beneficent than a common door because it comes with lots of features like easy cleaning, easy customization, low cost repairs etc. Frameless shower door is a very simple structure of glass panels joined together with simple hardware. These features make a frameless shower door economically beneficial than a framed door in long run.
Question 2: What shape frameless door should I choose for my bathroom?
It is a common question which customers frequently ask when they try to install a frameless door. Well shape of frameless door all depends on bathroom size and shape. There are different shapes of frameless doors available in the market which may include single door, inline shower door, 90 degree shower door and neo angle shower door. Each shape of frameless door is suitable for specific shape of bathroom and the location of shower section in your bathroom. For example if your bathroom is too small or your shower section is located in corner of the bathroom then 90 degree shower door can be best suitable type for you or if your shower section is installed with a straight wall then neo angle shape can perform better. You can consult your frameless shower door provider to get better understanding of it.
Can I install my new frameless shower door myself?
The answer of this question is No. It is not recommended to install a frameless shower door on your own. It is because installing a shower door requires a specific skill set and proper hardware equipments. Without these it becomes difficult to install a frameless shower door in a proper way that’s why it’s highly recommended to hire a professional to do the job for you.

These are few common questions and their answers which might help you whileinstalling a frameless door in your bathroom.

Comparison of Tempered and Annealed Glass

There are two main types of glass which are commonly used in glazing industry. These glass types are annealed and tempered glass. Both glass types are different from each other in terms of properties and applications. In this article we will discuss the properties and applications of both glass types but before that we need to understand that what both glass types actually are and how they are different.
Annealed Glass: Annealed glass is the common glass which is used in almost all glazing applications. This is the common glass which doesn’t come with any extra features. Annealed glass can be in different qualities but it doesn’t own any specific feature like thermal resistance or safety breakage.
Tempered glass: Tempered glass is also commonly known as safety glass. This is an advance form of glass and very popular due to its safety features. The different thing about this glass type is that it breaks in small pieces, which makes it safe for humans and pets upon breakage. Because of this feature it is excessively being used in automobiles industry.

Comparison
Here is the comparison of both glass types’ in terms of their features.
Strength:
Annealed glass: As you know that annealed glass is a common standard glass which don’t comes with any extra features so the strength of an annealed glass is standard. It doesn’t have any extra strength as it is in case of tempered glass.
Tempered: The tempered glass is stronger than normal annealed glass. According to calculations tempered glass is 4 to 5 times stronger than normal glass which means it needs 4 to 5 times more force to break as compare to annealed glass. It is because tempered glass contains extra compression on its surface. The extra compression is the only factor which makes it stronger and safe.
Safety
Safety is yet another feature which differentiates both types of glass. Normal annealed glass comes with no safety features however tempered glass has it. Because of this safety feature tempered glass shatters in small pieces like stones when it breaks. These small stones become less harmful as compare to large pieces with sharp edges.
Cutting and resizing

Tempered glass and annealed glass are also different in terms of resizing and cutting. A normal annealed glass can be cut and resize easily after manufacturing however tempered glass is not resizable when the manufacturing process is done. So glass manufacturing companies cut and resize the piece of tempered glass according to requirements during manufacturing process.

Home Improvement Tips Advantages of Using Insulated Glass for Home Decor

Home Improvement Tips Advantages of Using Insulated Glass for Home Decor

Insulated glass panels are also known as low e glass or energy efficient glass. Insulated glass is actually a modern type of glass which is used to insulate the outer windows of a home to maintain the indoor temperature normal in winter and summer season. Homes are usually made of wood or concrete and both materials are low e missive for heat which helps homes to remain cool in summer and hot in winter season however windows and doors are points which can transmit heat from inside to outside and vice versa which makes the internal temperature unstable. To prevent the transfer of heat from these points, insulated glass is installed. This glass helps to stop or resist the heat transfer so that the internal temperature of a home may remain normal.

How insulated glass insulates

You might have read in physics during your school time that matter in the shape of liquid and solid has more emissivity as compared to gas. This is the simple rule of science which used during making a glass insulated. Manufacturers actually keep a small gap of dehydrated air between two glass panels and join them with an insulated spacer. This technique converts a glass into an insulated glass. The gap of air between glass panels prevents heat transfer. Another technique which is used to make a glass insulated is low e coating. Low e-coating is actually a thin layer of low emissive material which covers the glass surface. This low e coating works like a filter for solar spectrum because it filters the sunlight coming into the home and stops UV and heat rays of sunlight without compromising light rays which help to brighten a home through sunlight without heating up. Manufacturers may increase the numbers of coatings to increase the efficiency of a glass.

Why to use

·         The main benefit of insulated glass is it helps to maintainthe temperature of a home at normal and don’t let it increase or decrease due to outer temperature influence. It also helps to lighten home with sunlight without influencing the indoor temperature by the heat of sunlight
·         The second main advantage of insulated glass is that it helps reducing the electricity and gas bills by reducing their consumption. As we have discussed before that insulated glass helps to maintain indoor temperature so it reduces the usage of AC in summer season and gas in the winter season by which a lot of energy cost can be saved every year.

Insulated glass is also stronger and safer as compared to normal annealed glass. It is because insulated glass is made by two layers of glass. The two parallel glass panels make the insulated glass more durable stronger and safe.
