Types of Insulated Glass which can be used in your Home Improvement

Types of Insulated Glass which can be used in your Home Improvement:

Insulated glass is also known as Low-E or energy efficient glass. This glass type popular due to its thermal resistance which helps to maintain the normal indoor temperature in winter and summer season and this is why it is used in home Improvement furniture along with tempered door glass, and shower door glass etc. Thermal resistance feature of this glass makes this glass energy efficient because it reduces the extra consumption of gas and electricity to maintain the room temperature. Insulated glass is also used in farming industry to create greenhouse effect for growing non seasonal fruits and vegetables. Now a day insulated glass panels are being used on large scale for outdoor glazing of huge structure buildings.

Insulated glass follows simple thermal conduction science to be thermal resistant. The thermal conduction is a term which is used to demonstrate the transferring process of heat in molecules of a matter body. As you know that there are three shapes of matter which are solid, liquid and gas. The thermal conduction science says that the heat transmits easily in solid and liquid shape of mater as compare to gasses. By following this simple rule the insulated glass manufacturers join two thin plies of thin glass and leave a small space layer between them which is filled by dehydrated air. This space small gap between two glass plies helps to prevent the heat transfer from one side of the glass to other side of the glass. Sometimes the glass manufacturers also laminate the glass surface with UV material coating to reduce ultra violate rays of sunlight to come into your home. You can divide insulated glass into several types by the number of coatings. Here are few types of insulated glass with the reference of No of UV coatings.

Simple Insulating

This is the simplest type of insulated glass with no UV coatings. As shown in figure, this glass type is made by just two layers of glass plies and there is no UV on any surface of glass of any glass panel. This glass is not UV resistant but can reduce the temperature transmitting for up to 30%.

Insulating Laminated

In this type of insulating glass there is Low-E coating on one of the glass panel on inside of the glass surface. This low-E coating also helps glass manufacturers to make tinted and themed glasses. Insulating laminated glass can resist the heat transfer for upto 42%. It also helps to cover your home from UV rays.

Double insulating

Double insulating glass is more heat and UV resistant as it contains two layers of Low-E coating on each inner surface of the glass. The extra coating works as extra filter for UV rays. This glass type can resist heat transfer for up to 50% or more. Construction companies prefer to use this glass type in too hot weather areas like Dubai and other gulf countries.

Triple Insulating glass

It is some different kind of low-E or insulated glass as it contains extra layer of glass panels. In simple words this glass type is made by three glass panels instead of two. The use of extra glass layers makes the glass low e performance for up to 2x.
